Silk Saree Care: Keep Your Heirloom Beautiful for Decades
17 July 2026
A good silk saree is an heirloom in the making. A little care goes a long way.
Cleaning
Always dry-clean pure silk. Never machine wash, and blot (don't rub) spills immediately.
Storage
Store in a muslin or cotton cloth, never plastic. Refold along different lines every few months so crease lines don't cut the zari.
Monsoon Care
Air your silks in gentle shade twice a year — never direct sunlight, which fades dyes. Add neem leaves or silica pouches to the wardrobe against humidity.
Zari Revival
If zari dulls over the years, a professional polish restores shine. Avoid home remedies — they can react with the metal threads.
