How to Drape a Banarasi Saree: 3 Timeless Styles
A Banarasi saree deserves a drape that shows off its zari. Here are three styles our stylists recommend. 1. The Classic Nivi The everyday favourite — pleats in front, pallu over the left shoulder. Keep the pallu pleated and pinned to display the woven border vertically. 2. The Bengali Drape No front pleats; the pallu wraps around both shoulders. This drape lets a heavy pallu spread fully — perfect for weddings. 3. The Seedha Pallu Pallu brought over the right shoulder from the back and spread across the front, the classic Gujarati style. Ideal when your pallu carries the richest work. Whichever you choose, wear a well-fitted blouse and use a saree pin sized for silk — thick pins can pull zari threads.
